The main research unit within the Klaipeda University is Marine Science & Technology Centre (incorporating Coastal Research & Planning Institute). It focuses on fundamental and applied scientific research as well as supports PhD studies. Main fields of the Institute scientific activity are: experimental analysis and modelling of the coastal ecosystems, environmental impact assessment, environmental monitoring, development of scientific background for sustainable development, land planning and ecosystem remediation. Institute also comprises group working on the stream ecology in the Western part of Lithuania.
Principal Investigator:
Artūras Razinkovas-Baziukas, PhD in water ecology, is working in the Marine Science & Technology Centre of the Klaipeda University, with over 20 years of experience in the lagoon and estuarine studies. His main research activities cover eutrophication and coastal lagoon resource management. He was co-ordinator of SBP project ARTWEI, PR for BONUS AMBER and recently COCOA and FP7 INFORM projects. He is a co-ordinator of BALOON (Baltic Lagoon Research Network) and steering member of EUROFEDMED.
Within Ecopotential he is the contact point for the Curonian lagoon/Baltic lagoons case study contributing also to the WP6-9.
